The Perfect Pet

Cute book.

Bought this book to read to my first graders during our opinion/persuasive writing study unit. I paired it with a writing they had to complete about what animal they thought would be a perfect pet and why. They enjoyed the book and writing project.

Great to use as a read aloud to teach persuasive writing in first grade.

This is a story about a girl who wants a pet. She goes through all of the options with her parents to no avail until one day she adopts a little bug. It is a sweet story - and one we can all relate to with our kids wanting something that we will not let them have. In the end the family is happy with the bug as a pet. The illustrations are lively and realistic. It is a quick book that will probably be enjoyed by most 2-5 year olds. Happy reading!!

Great book to generate ideas for opinion writing. Helped my kindergarteners and inspired them to write their own perfect pet opinion!

We liked this book very much, because it was funny! Try to guess what pet the girl ends up with in the story! You should read this book too!
