Keyboard failed after 15 months
This is a nice laptop but after 15 months of light use a few of the keyboard keys started giving the wrong characters. Acer quoted me $450 to repair. I'll continue to use it with a wireless keyboard but that won't be very convenient, especially when I travel.

Weak speakers
Wanted to like this laptop when I received t it since it had many of the features I was looking for in a 14 inch. However, the speakers were so under-powered that I couldn't hear them when I brought the computer outside on my deck. It didn't help that they are placed at the very bottom of the keyboard. Seems like the speakers are a big mismatch for the system. I have an older Dell Inspiron (2011) which has much better sound quality. In the case of the TravelMate, I had to return it.

Screen issues
After using this for less than 1 year it had to be sent in for a fix on the screen, as it had an impression that was very visible.After sending this unit in and receiving it back it lasted less than a year and the screen is unusable as it connects and disconnects with the movement of the lid. It is now out of warranty and I had to send it to a local repair to have it fixed.This is poor quality.
