PestZilla Handheld Dog Repellent and Trainer + LED Flashlight/Ultrasonic Dog Deterrent and Bark Stopper + Dog Trainer Device [Upgraded Version]

I started looking for an option after a dog tried to attack my elementary school kids on the way home from the bus. (They have to walk several blocks from the stop to our house.) An adult actually stopped her car and picked them up because she was worried the dog would injure them. Since then, every dog (even those behind fences--and almost all the houses along the way have one) have terrified my kids. One of the sprays wouldn't be allowed at school, so we decided to try this.I'm honestly not sure this device really does anything, but for the price it was worth the purchase to me. Putting it on the backpack of my oldest daughter has given them all a little peace of mind as they walk home. (Hence the two stars instead of one.) My husband walked with them once and tried it on a dog behind a fence that was aggressively barking at them. He didn't seem to think it made much difference. As long as the dogs stay behind fences, this will do fine for our needs. I'm not sure it would do much if a dog actually came after them again. I hope that doesn't happen again.

I really wanted to love this product. Their customer service department is very good. I emailed them saying that item does not work...at least on my dogs...and they asked if I wanted a Replacement. Supposedly this is a newer version of their old product, and I thought maybe I was sent the old product by mistake, so I said yes.I have 2 dogs, a large Alaskan Malamute and a small Shihtzu Terrier mix. When I press on Ultrasonic, nothing happens. There's no reaction from either of them.When I press on Audible, the 1st few times I tried it, they were startled, looked at me, but then kept right on doing what they were doing. With the new one, when I press on it, they barely look at me.The price is good, but I guess this is a good example of you get what you pay for.

This unit is easy to use and puts out a good audible sound which certainly gets a dog’s attention. But I needed something that worked in the ultrasonic range where humans can’t hear the tone. Using the ultrasonic button had absolutely zero effect on the dog all the way down to only 6 feet. If you want something that sounds like a 1950s space ray gun, this is truly a good buy, but as far as ultrasonic deterrence, keep looking.

Three months ago, on a morning walk, I was attacked from behind by a scruffy mutt--which, although muzzled, still managed to bite me twice in the leg. The consequences are predictable: stitches, antibiotics, rabies shots, pain, inconvenience, and expense. After purchasing a PestZilla Handheld Dog Repellent, I was armed and ready to deal with anything on four legs that even hinted aggression. Of course, I never saw another threat to life or limb... Even so, every time I passed the site of my last ambush, I had my trusty PestZilla at the ready, finger on the "trigger."And then today, passing the same location but seeing no likelihood of foul play, I suddenly was aware of a rustling behind me and a shove against my leg. It was the very same dog, trying to shift his muzzle slightly so that he could devour a couple more chunks of my calf! But I had the PestZilla already in hand, my thumb on the button. Before the mutt could bite, I had pressed the Ultrasonic option. The result was instantaneous. Bad Dog was in such a hurry to get away that he scuttled sideways like a crab before finally getting his feet under him and escaping to hide under a car down the street.Unless a dog is stone deaf, THIS THING WORKS! It's rather big, not at all ergonomic, and not particularly well designed. But today it saved me another trip to the hospital and all the nuisance that visit would have entailed...

I bought this to deal with some aggressive dogs I encounter in my daily walk. The have gone so far as to growl and nip at me as I passed. Today when they came at me, and I pressed the button, and they just....stopped. Didn't run away in fear or pain, just sort of changed their minds, like I suddenly just wasn't worth the effort. Stopped barking and just watched me walk by. Well worth it.

Only 4 stars because I have only had it a few days. Bought it to help quiet the non-stop barking next door when we go out in the backyard. I tried it immediately after receiving it - dog was barking and I put it over a knot hole in the fence and pressed the ultrasonic button. The barking stopped immediately and the yapper moved away from the fence. I have used it several other times with good results, but not as quick as the initial use. It will stop the barking with several pushes of the button. The dog definitely moves to another part of their yard,away from the fence.So far I am happy with the product and if this continues then deserves 5 stars.

A joke that's not funny. This product has absolutely no effect on any dog regardless of size. I have tried it time and again, dog after dog on walks and not one barking canine showed any recognition that some ultrasonic wave was in earshot. Sometimes as close as ten feet. Thankfully, there was a fence between us.Further, it is useless as an alarm and worthless as a flashlight.Unfortunately, time has run out to return it. I only regret 1 star is as low as we can give.
