A handy inspection camera with decent performance
A nice way to get very close up magnifcations of objects and expand upon that with some useful health applications too. This camera provides much better sharpness than a pocket microcope that I bought but which I found challenging to use without a suitable stand. But, as a lower-power microscope, the pocket scope has an advantage of a wider zone of view while still at high magnification. This USB microscope on the other hand, only provides high magnification by virtue of its very close focusing ability couple with viewing the image on a cellphone or computer screen. That done, magnification can be increased through software but at a loss of resolution and sharpness. Still, it is a very nice tool and also a fun experimental probe/inspection camera. I bought this primarily for use in the inspection of bearings for flat spots and it doesn't work too well for that purpose because the highly reflective surface of the bearings also reflects the camera lens, but I don't fault the camera for that; it just isn't the best tool for that particular purpose. The health uses as otoscope, endoscope, and dental camera are interesting. I don't care for the fact it is a fixed magnifier without true optical zoom capability, but for the price it is still usable enough by just adjusting the focal distance and refocusing.

Good Scope - glad I got it
This is a well built and fully functional unit that has worked well for my initial tests (I've had it for a few days now). The tube part of the scope is easy to handle and the stand seems to work just fine. The image quality is very good and there seems to be a "reasonable" depth of field so that your can see your subject and some of the background to get context as to what is in focus. The lighting is outstanding and is much better than I had thought it would be. The lighting brightness is adjustable using a thumb wheel on the cable. This unit fits my needs and performs well. The software is functional.A few small issues- The Potensic web site doesn't list this model so you really need the URL listed in the User's Guide if you want to download the software.- The tip of the tube can get uncomfortably warm if you run the lighting at high power for very long. It doesn't burn but you will notice it being hot.- The software seems to be somewhat old in design. Hopefully it will continue to work with new OS's as they come out. I use Windows 7 and it worked fine for me.

I was able to get a consistent connection and the scope worked great. The APP just works
This scope gets three stars because it comes as an incomplete KIT. The software and APP are not readily available. The link in the manual takes you to the Potnensic site and you have to look for the software. The direct link doesn't work. I also had trouble with the standard USB connection. At first, the scope wasn't recognized and I thought I had a DOA scope. When grabbed the USB connector to remove it from the PC, I then got the usual hardware connected tone. But it just disconnected again. Several tries made it apparent the flip top connector had problems. After cleaning the four connector pins and bending them for a tighter connection, I was able to get a consistent connection and the scope worked great. The APP just works. There's no color correction or brightness settings in the APP like there is in the PC software but the scope works great. If I had the need, I would buy it again. The stand and included attachments are handy and function well. The only problem I see with this scope is the Android APP has few options.

I expected to be disappointed but it works great on my note 8
I expected to be disappointed but it works great on my note 8. Had zero issues at all. Only thing is when you first open app it asks for permission and when you click yes it takes you to the settings menu but doesn't tell you what to change. Just hit cancel and it takes you right into the camera. Build quality is so so. Not sure it's going to last but it does work perfect and the picture is actually really good. I don't think it's as high of a zoom as it states. No optical zoom . You have to just move it closer to the object and refocus it. If you're looking for a high precision magnification this probably isn't it but I'm using it for electronic repair and it is prefect to see the tiny smd components and will focus fine on small numbers or circuit traces. For the Price it can't be beat even if I only get a year out of it.

Needed this to use for inspection on a customer's component ...
Needed this to use for inspection on a customer's component we make for them. Needed minor configuration and used a different viewer application than provided but it works well. If you need a specific magnification you have to do a little math. In my case we needed 25X so I calculated how large the image should be on screen, measured it manually to make sure we were at that size and we were off and running.

Works for me
This little camera works very nice. Easy to setup. Treat it as you would any other USB camera. Most operating systems already have theuniversal drivers installed. I'm using it on a Samsung tablet that uses an OTG adapter (your android device needs to have OTG features).Plug the OTG adapter into the tablet or your phone, then the camera into the adapter, open up the Potensic camera app.I suggest just make sure your phone or tablet supports OTG usb mode. You can download an app from the app store to test your device to see if it has OTG capabilities.Sorry, not iphones or ipads as far as I know but Mac/Linux computers should work.

scope works fine on my phone
scope works fine on my phone, and im sure it would work great with Windows 10, but i can not find the driver anywhere., Many others have had the same issue. I hate to give 3 stars bc it is a nice product for the money - but how asinine to have the necessary drivers for the PC difficult, if not impossible, to find!!I still have not found them yet so if anyone knows I would appreciate it.I would like to use it with Win 10
