Disappointed with Amazon customer services
I bought this TV on Amazon prime day. We were really happy with this at first. The picture was great, sound was good. However it became faulty less than 3 months later. The screen would go black then turn off when trying to switch between apps. Over the past few weeks the sound keeps turning off with the audio changing to headphones despite never having used headphones with the TV. The biggest issue is the way in which Amazon have handled this. They have offered a refund rather than an exchange - despite the TV being in stock, meaning I'd have to pay an extra £110 to buy the TV again as I bought this in the sale. So I'm now in the position of spending more for the same TV or having to manage with a faulty TV that is only 3 months old!

Ambilight is not a gimmick it really does add that wow factor!
Decided to go for this during a black friday sale, I have been looking at OLED TV's but never seemed to want to budget for them especially at the price they are now.I play games and watch films so need a TV that would be suited for both.My main things I looked for with this purchase was Screen size, 4K and colour options (HDR etc), Motion Smoothing and finally NO MOIRE! (Moire is when something like a striped shirt or chain link fence would cause the screen to look strange and kind of glitchy when fine lines or patterns are displayed)The contrast modes and black levels on this TV are insane, they are as close to OLED as I have seen and this is no exaggeration. Obviously, its not OLED, so it won't look like an OLED. But going from this to paying for an OLED makes little sense to me simply because the black levels are sooo good on this screen. It has a contrast processing mode that you can play about with to get it even darker and more vibrant and not a simple setting such as "high contrast on/off" it has many different levels, and different single adjustments to make. You hardly notice the backlight on the TV when end credits are playing or say for example the NETFLIX logo is shown the screen is as dark as it could possibly be and the netflix logo is very vibrant. It is a superb picture. It is a seriously good upgrade from my Samsung HDTV, that one had poor speakers that distorted with certain pitch sounds, it had a smart tv option but you needed to buy a dongle! So after having that for about 5 years this TV is far superior. The size of the screen is up to you, if you can fit it in then go as big as you can because the Ambilight will fill the room! The ambilight was one feature I always liked the sound of but it sounded like a gimmick to be honest, you could just put an LED strip behind your TV if you wanted it to stand out. When I started up the TV you get to set it up, connect to wifi and begin with the Ambilight settings..This is where the WOW factor started, you can set the Ambilight to be the colour of your walls! Or any colour you want! So for example when the picture is idle, you want it to illuminate but not a colour that doesn't blend well with your walls, you can set this so that it blends with your walls better.Ambilight is seriously good, I can't describe it. It makes everything much more impressive and EPIC and IMMERSIVE.For example a game called God of War, there are levels such as icy snow, or red fires of hell. Seeing your wall light up from the fires of Hell is seriously impressive. The effect isn't as good say if you look directly at the lights themselves on the wall, but when you are into the film/game you are playing it gives this feeling that the screen is larger than it is.Watching fireworks on new years eve on TV is going to be seriously good!!I didn't think it would be this good but the lights move and react to exactly what is going on. My only wish is that one day there will be a bezel-less ambilight tv and this will be THE perfect ambilight display because there will be no border at all and it would seem completely seamless.Motion Smoothing makes games and films look so much more modern and the ambilight really makes everything have much more life.Watching eastenders and having the inevitable Slater family cat fight light up your livingroom on christmas day will be interesting hahaSome things which have impressed me the most are -The black levels, as close to OLED as I have seen. The mass of options, finally I have perfect sync with my soundbar! The TV is quite heavy and feels like absolute quality. The remote has handy buttons and the Netflix button is very handy, the smart TV options run very fast and I have not noticed a need for this Android TV integration at all. I have a seperate box for this anyway. You can connect your satellite lead (freesat?) to the back of the TV for more freeview channels if your house has an unused sky dish, or you are thinking of ditching Sky and going for more of an on-demand/prime/netflix option. The Ambilight is seriously impressive, especially in the dark! When a PS4 powers on and fills the TV with its menu the wall of your room will extend that blue as bright as you like giving everything a much more impressive look. I can't wait to play previous games and films on this TV to experience them in an all new (excuse the pun) light! If you are on the fence about ambilight, seriously go for it. When I upgrade from this in years to come my next one will be an Ambilight also, and perhaps bezel-less if they every release one. Now, Ambilight will not be for everyone! So thankfully you can turn it off! It can be distracting for some, say watching things like I'm a celebrity with everything being green most of the time, it could be too bright all of the time for something like that. Or when you are watching something dark like a horror and you just want the room to be dark like a Cinema, traditional viewing, it could be a waste on someone who just does not like the feature on all the time. But if you watch plenty of Avengers films, it really does give an extra dimension of WOW to these. The blue tones of Terminator 2 for example, having my room fill with blue from those scenes to then filling with yellow from the steel mill - something like this is just epic to me, watching the Planet Earth series as well. It would be a real spectacle on this TV for sure so I recommend it if you are going to enjoy things like this in the evening. As just a TV though it is fantastic, 4K UHD with HDR+ as well, PS4 Pro and Xbox One X look amazing and with motion smoothing as well it's like putting it in 60fps mode.It only has 8bit 4K for any purists out there looking at the specs, so don't go for this TV if all you are about is the best best 4K experience with the best equipment (Although you probably know this already!)I just wanted to share my experience with this TV as forums are full of people bragging about there TV and putting Philips down and even buying other ambilight accessories that require bluetooth, a phone, a camera fitted to the tv etc.If the ambilight is something you like the look of but haven't got it, definitely get it.I literally cannot wait to revisit all my films and games again on this TV.Highly recommended!! And this is from someone who games on PC with a 144hz monitor, so I know a smooth sharp picture when I see it.

Exceeded already strong expectations
This TV gets solid reviews online, albeit there are little, if any, in depth video reviews.I picked it up for under 300 on warehouse deals, but would be willing to pay full price in hindsight having seen it in the flesh.Smart System:The remote gets a bit of stick, but honestly I think it's really well laid out and easy to navigate. The Saphi system has a good user interface and everything you need is a click away. The big positive here, is that no matter what you are on, pressing the "Home" Button brings up the Smart apps overlaid on whatever you're watching, as opposed to coming out of the app you're on, or moving you to a completely new screen.I'm yet to try Netflix on this set, but going from the performance of YouTube and iPlayer, I'm sure that will be carried through - there is no issue with the responsiveness of button presses or App loading times.Audio:I used to sell Tv's, and am well aware that nearly all Tv's nowadays need a sound bar otherwise you're listening to very tinny audio. Again, I was impressed in this department...The sound does have some depth to it that is very rare on a TV, with some separation between voice and music/sound effects, although as always a sound bar will be on most people's setup.Video:I was literally taken back when I loaded up some YouTube content before tweaking the picture settings on this. Most surprisingly were the black levels and contrast, which is again something pretty hard to find on a TV in 2018 without going OLED. The fact this tv is backlit, and not edge lit definitely helps -i've noticed minimal, if any, backlight bleed thus far.To summarise....it's a cracking TV and considering the price it's a must buy.

Super bright 4k smart tv at an amazing prime day price!
After purchasing this tv with no reviews available due to it being only just released, I took a gamble on purchasing this tv... but so glad I did. The tv is such a transformation on my old basic he tv, the colours 'pop out' on even mormalntv viewing, but once you play a 4k film... that's when it comes into it's own. With the added bonus of having the lights on the sides and top at the rear of the tv ot projects the picture to be even bigger than your viewing, it's adds a nice touch. The tv is of basic smart apps, but I got this for such a steal on Prime day that I can't complain as I stream my 4k films from apps so it was no biggy to me. The sound is a bit of a let down compared to say the higher brands but again adding a sound bar or in my case having a cinema system makes this a needless complaint for myself, but thought I would be honest if you decide to consider purchasing?Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend this tv.
